The Banting Research Foundation and the Data Sciences Institute (DSI) have partnered to offer the Banting-Data Sciences Institute Discovery Award in Data Science for eligible early-career investigators who are budgetarily appointed at the University of Toronto or at a DSI external research institute and who are members of the DSI.

Discovery Awards from The Banting Research Foundation support young Canadian researchers who demonstrate excellence and creativity in health and biomedical science. In keeping with the mission of the DSI, applicants to the Banting-Data Sciences Institute Discovery Award in Data Science should propose a new, innovative statistical or computational methodology, or propose to implement existing methods in novel ways, to address a health or biomedical research question.

This new investigator award is a one-year grant of up to $30,000 and is intended to support statistical or computational research related to a health or biomedical problem.

Applications will be adjudicated on the basis of scientific excellence and innovation by the Banting Research Foundation Grant Review panel.
